Strombocactus disciformis f. cristata is a rare and striking crested form of the Strombocactus disciformis cactus, native to Central and Northeast Mexico. Unlike the typical solitary, disc-shaped stem of the species, this variety exhibits a fan-shaped, brain-like growth pattern due to cresting, where the stem’s growth point forms a wavy line instead of a single apex. It features a blue-green body with a greyish tinge, covered in spirally arranged, overlapping tubercles, and has 4-5 erect, dark grey-tipped spines that eventually fall off with age. Slow-growing and prized by collectors, it thrives in well-draining soil with ample sunlight.
